Rusutsu Wind Farm

How it came together
Located 800 meters above sea level in Rusutsu Village, Abuta County, Hokkaido, Invenergy's Rusutsu wind farm consists of 15 large 4.2 megawatt wind turbines manufactured by GE Verona in the United States, with a capacity of 63 megawatts. This makes it one the largest onshore wind projects in both Japan and Hokkaido.
What sets it apart
Invenergy independently developed this project from start to finish, relying on expertise from both its U.S.- and Japan-based teams. The local team in Japan has deep knowledge of country-specific circumstances, such as disaster prevention, EIA, and grid connection. In addition, Invenergy's Japan team has signed a CPPA with HONDA, further demonstrating how Invenergy's teams in the U.S. and Japan work together.
What's the impact
With a local office in Rusutu Village, this project has provided numerous local jobs opportunities, and Invenergy personnel engage with the surrounding community by facilitating site visits and tours at the energy center.
