 -- Meta Platforms, Inc (Nasdaq: META) announced it has signed four contracts with Chicago-based energy owner, operator and developer, Invenergy, for 760 megawatts of clean energy. These new Environmental Attribute Purchase agreements (EAPAs) bring Meta's total clean energy procurement from Invenergy to over 1 gigawatt.

Meta’s EAPAs are contracted through four Invenergy-developed facilities strategically located across the U.S. to meet soaring energy demand with domestically produced electricity. These solar energy centers include:

The electricity from these projects will be delivered to the local grid, increasing regional reliability by delivering power to nearby homes and businesses, while Meta will receive clean energy credits for bringing new generation capacity online.

One-of-a-kind Illinois Facility to Advance Clean Energy Economy 

– Invenergy, the leading privately held developer, owner, and operator of sustainable energy solutions, today announced it has broken ground on its Center of Excellence (CoE), a $30 million clean energy training and manufacturing facility located at 790 Remington Boulevard in Bolingbrook, Illinois, about 30 miles outside Chicago. The new facility will span 135,000 sq. ft. and is anticipated to open in the fourth quarter of 2024 following the buildout of the existing site which will employ over 250 local construction workers. 

“The Center of Excellence is Invenergy’s latest investment in the workforce of the future and reinforces our leadership in meeting the growing demand for clean energy,” said Steve Dowdy, Executive Vice President and Operating Business Leader at Invenergy. “As we collectively meet today’s rapidly expanding energy needs, this state-of-the-art training and equipment refurbishment facility continues our commitment to the region, elevating Chicagoland, Illinois, and the US as the tip of the spear for energy infrastructure investment and innovation." 

The CoE will be comprised of four main components:

Invenergy Expands US Footprint With New Washington, D.C. Office

PATASKALA, OH – June 4, 2024 - Illuminate USA, a leading US solar panel manufacturer, has shipped its very first panels to a new solar energy center under construction in Hardin County, Ohio. Invenergy’s Hardin Solar III Energy Center will provide up to 250 megawatts of clean electricity - enough to power 48,000 Ohio homes - upon expected completion later this year.

“Illuminate USA started producing solar panels at scale within a year of its launch, and now more than 700 Ohioans are showing the solar industry that the US is ramping up to meet our nation's demand for clean energy,” said Illuminate USA CEO Frank Zhu.

“We’re very proud that the very first solar panels to be produced at our new Ohio facility are being installed right here in Ohio. Since our panels started rolling off our assembly lines in February, we’ve seen significant interest from energy companies looking to use our Ohio-made panels as well as from Ohioans interested in advanced manufacturing careers.”

Today, the American company includes a team of more than 700 “Illuminators” at its 1.1 million square foot advanced manufacturing facility in Licking County. Once reaching full capacity later this year, more than 1,000 Ohioans will be on site and more than 9.2 million high-quality solar panels will be produced annually. This equals 5 gigawatts of electricity production, enough to power 1 million American homes.

Invenergy commemorated the milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony that included a $20,000 donation to the 

 program that will support over 600 local families in need

, North America’s largest privately held independent power producer, and Grant County Public Utility District (Grant PUD) celebrated the groundbreaking of the Quincy Solar Energy Center on August 18, 2026. The 120-megawatt (MW) project milestone marks Grant PUD's first solar project in Grant County and Invenergy's first solar project in Washington state to break ground. Once operational, the project will provide clean, reliable solar energy to the local grid and generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of more than 25,000 Washington homes.

The event was held at the project site, located near Moses Lake, Washington, and featured a $20,000 donation presentation from Invenergy to the 

 program that will support over 600 local families in need. This neighbor-to-neighbor program helps families and individuals in need pay their electric bills.

Following remarks from project stakeholders, a ceremonial gold shovel dig highlighted the construction progress already underway at the Quincy Solar site. Attendees included Grant PUD commissioners, executives, and staff; Washington State Senator Judy Warnick; Washington State Representative Alex Ybarra; leaders from IBEW Local 191, IUOE Local 302, and LiUNA Local 348; representatives from Cupertino Electric, the project's engineering and construction contractor; and Invenergy project team members.

"We're proud to partner with Grant PUD on its first solar project in the county and help advance a shared goal of delivering reliable, affordable electricity while creating lasting economic benefits for Grant County,” said

Quincy Solar will support more than 200 jobs at peak construction, boosting local businesses in the area. In addition to powering the local grid, Quincy Solar is expected to contribute more than $27 million to the local economy through land lease payments, local taxes, and other expenditures over the life of the project.

The project is expected to reach commercial operations in late 2027. Quincy Solar builds on Invenergy's growing presence in Washington, where the company has now successfully developed four energy projects totaling more than 950 megawatts of generation capacity. Across the state, Invenergy projects contribute over $12.1 million annually through local taxes, landowner payments, wages, and other economic benefits. Invenergy Invested Over $500 Million in American Communities Last Year

Fletcher succeeds former CEO Frank Zhu and brings nearly two decades of senior leadership experience from Illuminate USA’s parent company, Invenergy. Fletcher previously served on Illuminate USA’s Board and will remain on the Board as part of his new role.

Illuminate USA Announces New CEO Art Fletcher

Project will help I&M meet rapidly rising energy demand 

Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) has made a filing with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) requesting approval of a certificate of public convenience and necessity (CPCN) to acquire the Sycamore Riverside Energy Center, a planned 918 megawatt (MW) natural gas combustion turbine generation facility to be built in Sullivan County, Indiana.

I&M anticipates a decision from the IURC on the filing by the end of 2026. If the CPCN request is approved within the anticipated timeframe, I&M is expected to take ownership of the facility in March of 2029 once construction and commissioning are complete. The site is adjacent to I&M’s retired Breed Generation Facility. I&M has a long and positive history of collaboration with the community and looks forward to reinvesting in the area.

The proposal to acquire Sycamore Riverside is a component of I&M’s 

 plan, which details the resources needed to provide I&M customers with reliable and affordable energy today and into the future. The cost of the project will not impact I&M’s ability to request a reduction in base rates as well as a multi-year freeze of non-fuel rates for Indiana customers.

The acquisition is necessary to meet increased energy and capacity demand and the filing contains additional information on future operating plans, fuel supply strategy, status of major equipment purchases and affordability considerations. Through the CPCN process, the IURC will evaluate whether the acquisition is reasonable and in the public’s interest.

“As our communities continue to grow, we are investing in a diverse generation portfolio consisting of new and existing facilities, designed to meet our customers’ future energy needs,” said Steve Baker, I&M president and chief operating officer. “The Sycamore Riverside Energy Center is a dispatchable resource, providing reliable on-demand power during periods of peak energy needs.”

The project is being developed by Invenergy, North America’s largest privately held independent power producer and energy infrastructure innovator. Sycamore Riverside Energy Center will be Invenergy’s third project in Sullivan County.

Invenergy Advances 918 MW Natural Gas Project with Offtake Agreement in Indiana

CHICAGO, IL (April 7, 2026) – Invenergy, North America’s largest privately held independent power producer and energy infrastructure innovator, today announced that its Founder Michael Polsky will assume the role of Executive Chairman while Co-Founder and longtime President Jim Murphy will take over as the company’s CEO, and Chief Commercial Officer Jim Shield will become President of Invenergy Power, which will oversee the company’s growing natural gas and data center development.

Invenergy Strengthens Leadership Structure

Collaboration Combines AI Factory Design, Energy Resources and Flexibility to Speed Time to Power and Support Grid Reliability

By bringing together technology, energy and infrastructure leaders, the collaboration demonstrates how companies across industries can convene to support AI innovation in the United States, while building a more reliable power system for Americans.

These next-generation AI factories will harness the new 

, which includes the DSX Flex software library for connecting AI factories to power-grid services.

For accelerated deployment, the factories can use co-located energy generation and storage as bridge power for hybrid AI factories, then later harness these resources to flexibly supply the grid, accelerate AI factory interconnection and support the broader power system. This approach helps bring AI capacity online faster while creating broader value for customers and communities.

The DSX reference architecture can also support flexible AI factories without co-located energy resources to achieve larger and faster power grid connections.

Emerald AI’s Conductor platform will orchestrate computational flexibility alongside onsite generation, batteries and other behind-the-meter resources to deliver precise, grid-responsive power flexibility while ensuring quality of service for AI compute tenants. This coordination helps operators meet power targets, protect priority workloads, shorten time on bridge power, and support larger and faster interconnections. It can also help reduce the need for infrastructure to be sized around peaks, easing pressure on future system costs.

Emerald Conductor orchestrates compute flexibility alongside onsite energy resources to support the grid, so projects can connect sooner, preserve quality of service for AI tenants and ultimately strengthen the power system around them.”

Building AI Factories That Strengthen the Grid

Today’s electric systems are built to serve peak demand but are underutilized during most hours of the day. Power-flexible AI factories can help unlock up to 

 across the U.S. power system by combining optimized infrastructure design with efficient use of existing assets and, where needed, new-build generation, while flexing during limited periods of grid stress to reduce the need for broader grid expansion to support reliability.

AI factories convert electricity into AI tokens, models and intelligence — among the highest-value outputs modern infrastructure can produce. Meeting that opportunity will require innovation in computing as well as in how companies plan, build and operate energy infrastructure.

Many gigawatt-scale AI projects are turning to co-located generation and storage because conventional interconnection timelines can be too slow for the pace of AI investment. However, permanently isolating generation and storage from the grid has drawbacks. It can leave assets underutilized, raise long-term cost per AI token and prevent energy resources from supporting grid reliability.

Invenergy, along with AES, Constellation, NextEra Energy, Nscale Energy & Power and Vistra are committed to building the energy generation capabilities necessary to ensure supply meets surging demand.

The companies will collaborate to evaluate optimized generation applications designed to power the AI factories built with the architecture developed by NVIDIA and Emerald AI, including through hybrid projects that use co-located power, to speed time to power and create value for the broader grid. By pairing large AI loads with flexible operations, new energy generation capabilities and intelligent controls, this approach can help boost grid reliability.

The companies can also support flexible AI factories that are grid-connected from the outset, using co-located energy resources if available.

Nscale’s Monarch campus is a power asset for West Virginia, not a load on it.”

“U.S. grids are designed to handle the highest-peak demand scenarios, which make up very few hours during the year,” said Jim Burke, president and CEO of Vistra. “AI factories that have the flexibility to adjust their power use with grid conditions are a faster solution, especially with co-located generation, for better utilization of the current grid infrastructure. This helps boost speed while we continue to build out more infrastructure for the long term.”

Over the last year, Emerald AI and NVIDIA trialed AI power flexibility demonstrations at five commercial data centers around the world. DSX Flex is expected to be deployed at commercial scale later this year at the NVIDIA AI Factory Research Center in Virginia, planned as one of the world’s first power-flexible AI factories with NVIDIA Vera Rubin infrastructure.

The companies intend to identify and advance project opportunities built using the Vera Rubin DSX reference design with DSX Flex to accelerate large-scale AI infrastructure deployment, support larger and faster grid interconnections, unlock technology pathways for new generation builds, expand the economic benefits of AI and energy investment for local communities, strengthen U.S. energy leadership and enable broader AI deployment over time.
